St. Thomas University and the Mi’kmaq/Maliseet BSW (MMBSW) Steering Committee are offering an accredited Bachelor of Social Work degree programme to a fourth cohort of Mi’kmaq and Maliseet students beginning in September, 2014. The MMBSW programme is designed for First Nation individuals in the Maritime Provinces and Quebec, who are currently working or interested in working in social work or related positions in areas such as child and family services, addictions, health, social development or education.

The BSW degree programme requires students to successfully complete 60 credit hours of Social Work courses over a 3 year period beginning in September, 2014 to June, 2017.

Courses will be taught by faculty members from St. Thomas University. The programme will be delivered through a number of instructional formats:

Applicants to the MMBSW will need to possess an undergraduate degree or a minimum of 60 completed credit hours of Liberal Arts courses to be considered for admission.
